STATE REPRESENTATIVE BRANDEN DURST WILL SEEK REELECTION TO DISTRICT 18 SEAT A

Representative Branden J. Durst is pleased to announce his intention to seek reelection to the Idaho House of Representatives for District 18, Seat ‘A’. Rep. Durst, a first-term legislator from the South/Southeast Boise district, has earned a positive reputation both for his youthful energy and his insightfulness into the legislative process. As the only member of the House Education Committee from Ada County, Durst spent his first term focusing on education issues, including early childhood education.

“I am motivated to see positive change in Idaho. Now is not the time to elect someone who will participate in the business-as-usual, special-interest politics. We must continue to move forward with an agenda that makes the residents of District 18 the top priority.”

As the first member of the Idaho Legislature to publish a blog live from the floor of the House of Representatives, Rep. Durst made transparency and openness a top goal of his first term. In addition, Rep. Durst co-hosted multiple forums throughout District 18 in the past two sessions. Through this process, Rep. Durst kept in close contact with many residents of District 18 who have helped him form the basis of his legislative priorities for next session. Those priorities are:

  • Healthcare
  • Property taxes
  • Early childhood education
  • Growth management
  • Transportation and mass transit

Rep. Durst is also delighted to announce that his hard work and independent thinking has earned him the support of several prominent District 18 residents. Of note, Rep. Durst has earned the confidence of Boise City councilman and District 18 resident Vernon L. Bisterfeldt. Councilman Bistefeldt will serve as the chairman of the Durst for Idaho Campaign Steering Committee as well as the political treasurer. In addition, former State Controller and District 18 resident J.D. Williams will also serve on the Committee.
