Vision is fundamental to the future of Idaho. In the past four years Representative Branden Durst has been an innovator working towards a 21st century vision for Idaho. These are the top 3 issues Branden will focus on in his to service you.

Priority One - Job Creation
Our economy needs new ideas and Rep. Durst has been a proven innovator in job creation. Without creating more jobs, our economy will continue to languish. While we must look for opportunities wherever they may be, Rep. Durst is especially focused on small business development. He is the author of HB 584, which would create the Micro Enterprise Development Authority (MEDA). MEDA would provide loans for small businesses to start-up or expand. Supporting small businesses is essential to a 21st century vision for Idaho.

Priority Two - Connecting the Education Pipeline
As public schools and higher education are being asked to do more with less, now is the time to innovate in education. First, to really maximize on our educational dollar, we must begin to look at expanding access to early learning opportunities. In addition, we need to challenge students to maximize on their own potential. Rep. Durst's innovative and bipartisan legislation, the Mastery Advancement Pilot Project (MAPP), will provide scholarships for college to students that push themselves to make the most of their education. Connecting the education pipeline from early learning to college graduation is critical to Idaho's economic future.

Priority Three - Tax Fairness
It is time to stop the unrelenting shift of the tax burden onto regular Idahoans. The legislature must get serious about the elimination of exemptions, no more talk. Rep. Durst supports placing a sunset on every existing and future exemptions. He also supports creating a non-partisan, non-political commission that would have the power to provide an objective review of each exemption and also the authority to eliminate exemptions if costs outweigh benefits.
